Using combinations CTRL-A , CTRL-C, CTRL-V, ... did not work in Ubuntu with Crossover Linux for Windows applications.
In short, the Control key did not work at all.
After searching and trying, I've discovered that when you set System=> Preferences => Mouse => Locate pointer => Show position of pointer when Control key is pressed, to ON, the Control key no longer works in Crossover managed applications.
Fix it by setting it to OFF (uncheck)
Thank you very much, I had the same problem and couldn't figure out how to solve it.
