Nvidia drivers make Office 2007 slow

After installing Office 2007 under Crossover on a clean install of Ubuntu 8.10 it worked perfectly. Then I enabled the hardware nvidia drivers for my Geforce 9600m GT and after the reboot, Word 2007 and all other office 2007 applications run extremly slow, especially the menu system.

After removing the drivers and rebooting, everything works fine again. I can live without the drivers, but using them generally really improves my Ubuntu experience.

Any one have any ideas?

Which Nvidia drivers are you using? The 177.80 drivers are a ball of bugs, and may be your issue moreover than Crossover. Can you try to either install the newest 177.82 driver or go back one version to the 173 drivers and report your findings?

As said, the 177.xx series nvidia drivers have been a bit hit&miss - I had some performance
issues (with native linux apps, not just cx) after a recent driver upgrade. I found this ;

Following those clues seemed to help a lot, and AFAIK they hold good for 177.xx series. I've
since upgraded to driver version 180.11 (beta) just to avoid that shizzle - hope this helps.
