Office2007 NTFS read-only

Hey guys,

Have a problem. I am using Ubuntu 8.04, Crossover office 7 and Office2007.
The problem is when I open a file from mounted hdd the file is read-only.
I can save the same file into the same drive with no problem. But when I open it in the next session it become read only. There is no problems with the mounted drive, as I can create and edit files in it. I can open, save edited file from office but just with new name. And as I said file can be saved on the same name as long as it remains open in the same session when it was saved.

There is no problem to open/save file whithin Ubuntu.

Any ideas what might be wrong?

The easiest, almost English explanation:

Our storage implementation requires writable mmaps (, and crashes if the MapViewOfFile call fails.
This causes crashes in Office when saving to a flash drive or NTFS file system.

This is why "there is no problem to open/save file within Ubuntu" and yet when attempting it through CrossOver it fails.
