Dear Technical People

I am trying to install version 14 over version 13.2.0

I downloaded the latest version
1) wget http://crossover.codeweavers.com/redirect/crossover.deb

Then
2) sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
no output after entering the password

Then
3) sudo apt-get update
output

4) sudo dpkg -i crossover.deb

5) Crossover did not start

Then
6) When I start Crossover it is still version 13.2.0

Any help appreciated

How did you install 13.2.0? DId you use the .deb package?

What does this command return?
apt-cache policy crossover

What version does crossover indicate if you start it like this?
/opt/cxoffice/bin/crossover

1) Yes I believe I did use the .deb package install 13.2.0

2) The output of "apt-cache policy crossover" is

3) When I type "/opt/cxoffice/bin/crossover" it starts crossover and Help > About reveals it is version 14.1.4

4) The previous version, which is in the menu has this command:
/home/stephanos/cxoffice/bin/crossover %u
which starts the earlier version

5) So the conclusion is I have installed version 14.1.4

6) I have made a new menu entry for 14

Cool. It looks like you installed the previous version using the universal installer not the .deb package. That's why it ended up in your $HOME.

Thanks for that. My preference is to use the .deb package in the future. Any tips on how to remove the earlier version?

As I recall there is an "Uninstall CrossOver" option but I also recall me saying some rather not nice things about it because I believe it wipes the bottles as well. I do not recall whether it prompts about the bottle deletion or not. Probably not and that's why I had some less nice words about it.

The "manual" way is to remove the directory it was installed and make the menu entries point to the correct paths.
