Excel 365 recipe not up to date

Hi, I am on Gentoo.
I bought my first copy of Excel 2 days ago thinking it would bring less trouble than a cracked one. But i am having some problem with the install. When I try to install my copy with the recipe from crossover I get an error from excel saying "you need windows 10 to continue". Any idea how to solve this ? I have tried with a Win10 bottle and this error is then solved but then the problem is something else...

Hi there,

Are you using an offline installer? We are aware that those require Windows 10, and currently do not work with CrossOver. Online installers (.exe) should install into a Windows 7 bottle and work well.

Best,
Meredith

I have tried both and got the same error both time

Hi there,

Hmm, what account type do you have (e.g. personal, business, pro plus etc.)? I haven't heard reports of this with an online .exe installer before, and Microsoft's own documentation says they are providing security updates for Windows 7 until January 2023: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/deployoffice/endofsupport/windows-7-support

Thanks,
Meredith

It is a personal account, I bought the copy on the 19th and it is only Excel . If that could help, I can send you a copy of the installer...

Hi again,

Ah, I see. I'm guessing you purchased this: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/p/excel/cfq7ttc0k7dx?activetab=pivot:overviewtab

The description says that it is only compatible with Windows 10, so I'm afraid I don't have good news for you. We are planning on eventually adding support for Windows 10, but that won't be coming with our next release this summer.

Best,
Meredith

Well that answers the question.
Thanks for you time Meredith.
