getting bottle to think a linux dir is a CD-ROM?

After installing an "unsupported" piece of software, every time I start it, it wants me to mount the installer CD before the software will run. I made a directory under linux, copied the CD to that directory, then edited the bottle properties to set that directory as a CD-ROM under that bottle, but it still wants the hardware CD-ROM. What am I doing wrong. I even installed it from that directory...

there are virtual CDs that do that

try some of them under Cx and see which will do the trick :

  • see if any of these work.

Thanks, Pierre - so you're saying to first create a bottle and install, say, Gizmo-Drive (using the "Install Windows Software" button), then mount the .iso as a virtual CD, then install into that bottle from that CD (rather than using the Crossover "Install Windows Software" button)?

Can't seem to get an install on that software...

Copy protection systems like that usually test raw SCSI access to the cdrom drive, so just giving them a folder won't work.
