Edidev_FREDI_Runtime.exe calls unimplemented function sfc.dll.SfcGetNextProtectedFile

Hi all. I'll apologize in advance because I realize this is application-specific and not an installation or configuration issue with CrossOver. But after searching for the subject runtime and getting no matches, I couldn't find an appropriate forum in the compatibility center. So I welcome moderator assistance in moving this post to the most appropriate place for it.

I just posted in the wine forum.[link=https://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=24673][/link] and thought I'd ask here too because although I'm not currently using CrossOver nor am I a customer of codeweavers, I would be immediately if there were any support available in CrossOver for my issue described in my wine forum post.

If anyone has more information about either Edidev_FREDI_Runtime.exe or sfc.dll.SfcGetNextProtectedFile, I'd be very grateful to read about it.

Thank you.

I used the post editor to include a link to my wine forum post thinking that the hyperlink inserted by the post editor would be allowed, but as advertised in the fine print, even that HTML was stripped out.

So I'll just include a shortened version of the backtrace I mentioned there:

Unhandled exception: unimplemented function sfc.dll.SfcGetNextProtectedFile called in 32-bit code (0x7b83af6c).

What application is this for?

You should be able to paste in the link of your WineHQ post without adding any tags and we'll be able to follow it.

This microsoft article says that function was removed in Vista and up.. The installer is supposed to support XP and up. Set your windows version to vista, server2008, 7, or 8 and then try to install.

I set the executable to install in a Win8 bottle on current crossover and it seems to installed correctly, assuming your software was from http://www.edidev.com/index.html

Also appears to have successfully installed on wine 1.7.43 set to Windows Version Windows 7.

This is only a workaround, not a proper solution.

sfc.dll would still need to be fixed to support SfcGetNextProtectedFile in WinXP mode.
