What is a  .tie  file, i.e., quicken.tie, and how does one use it? I'm trying to install Quicken Deluxe 2016 but having no luck.

it's sort of a script file, that contains an method of installing a known product, like Quicken,
and so that you don't have to install the product, yourself, manually.

ie: it automates the install process, for you.
so, you just download that quicken.tie & let the Cx program  use that tie to install quicken for you.

& you already know it limitations & workability, from the stated reviews.
