CrossOver Support - Community Forums

I'm using Linux Mint 18.2 - Cennamon 64 bit.

I install CrossOver Linux Trial (latest version). Everything goes well until I reboot my machine. The machine fails to boot into Desktop.

I have to reinstall Mint. Trying this again leads to the same problem.

Could you check if you have the same problem? If so, is there any solution?

Hello! Have you tried to just do a fresh install of Mint, then reboot a couple of times (before you install anything like Crossover) to see if everything is OK? I've had booting problems with some versions of Linux and some specific hardware, but they were not Crossover related.

there has been some issues with Linux Mint 18.2, & whilst most folks are A.ok,
it seems that there is some folks that are having some strange issues:

• WiFi,, Printer,, installation of system, ,, installation of other software,
  and Cx does fall into that latter category.

you should not Test Cx Beta on any system that is critical to your needs,
& most preferably on a dedicated Test Machine. . .

I did restart many times before installing CrossOver. I had the same problem with PlayonLinux which is also based on Wine.

I installed Mint as a virtual machine on Vmware Workstation v12.5.7.

I tried to install with Ubuntu. Everything is ok.

I have more info to share.

Installing Wine from Software Manager also leads to the same problem for me.

When I click on install button to install Wine from Software Manager, there is a dialog saying that:

This will remove the following packages:

libgles2-mesa
libgles1-mesa
libglapi-mesa
udev
libegl1-mesa
libudev1
libgbm1
libwayland-egl1-mesa
libgl1-mesa-dri
libgl1-mesa-glx

I guess that because of those files being removed, after robooting, my Linux Mint fails to boot into Desktop. Do you know if those files are critical for the Desktop Environment (e.g. Xfce)?

I think you need to add i386 architecture:

sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386 ; sudo apt-get update

I tried. The same old problem for Linux Mint.

Installing on Ubuntu/Xubuntu is ok.
