Preventing micros~1 office link .lnk files creation and disable recent files in crossover linux

After my long search and testings Remove created "Recent" file/folder on these folders which is shown below.

rm /home/$USER/.cxoffice/Microsoft_Office_XXX/drive_c/users/crossover/Recent

rm /home/$USER/.cxoffice/Microsoft_Office_XXX/drive_c/users/Public/Recent

NOTE:

  • $USER is your userName

After removing "Recent" files/folders, create a linux link files as shown below. With this we are guarantee that the files will be not created.

ln -s /dev/null /home/$USER/.cxoffice/Microsoft_Office_XXX/drive_c/users/crossover/Recent

ln -s /dev/null /home/$USER/.cxoffice/Microsoft_Office_XXX/drive_c/users/Public/Recent

Last and absolute solution is to disabling recent file creation in bottled micros~1 windows. To do that open the Crossover, select relevant bottle(from left pane). Than double click on "Run Command...". This will open a dialog, in the "Command:" textBox enter "regedit" than click on "Run" button which will open Registry tool of micros~1.

Locations(if keys are not exists just create them hierarchically)
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]

Value To Create
Name: NoRecentDocsHistory
Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value: (0 = disable restriction, 1 = enable restriction)

Thats it! no more .lnk files around your life <😎

Sincerely,

Tolun ARDAHANLI
