Hi,
I recently purchased CrossOver for Linux 13 and installed it in Ubuntu 12.10 using the deb packages. My goal was to run Office 2010 and Powerpoint in particular.
I have a running version of Office 2007 under CrossOver 10. In that setup, after installing office and ffdshow the videos in Powerpoint play without problems. There is however another bug known for older wine: dragging elements makes the screen black.
So, I decided to upgrade to CrossOver 13. I tried the same setup with Office 2007 and ffdshow, however, in version 13.0 the videos do not play. It is possible to add them to the presentation, however, instead of the video played I can only see a white rectangle.
Finally, I tried Office 2010 SP2, which installs without problems on CrossOver 13. However, here, the videos problem is more complicated. Depending on the setup, there are different types of problems. None of which results in working videos.
=> Problem 1 Setup: Office 2010 + ffdshow tryouts
Videos cannot even be inserted (message of Powerpoint about missing codec). The following error is in logs:
err:quartz:GetClassMediaFile Media class not found
=> Problem 2 Setup [Office 2010 + native quartz.dll] OR [Office 2010 + directx 9]
Videos can be inserted, however, a winegstreamer bug occurs. Logs show:
WARNING **: GThread system no longer supports custom thread implementations
it then loops showing the following messages:
fixme:gstreamer:unknown_type Could not find a filter for caps: video/x-xvid, framerate=(fraction)60/1, width=(int)640, height=(int)480
fixme:gstreamer:watch_bus decodebin20: Your GStreamer installation is missing a plug-in.
fixme:gstreamer:watch_bus avidemux0: Internal data stream error.
This problem is most likely related to this wine bug:

There is a workaround, but wine has to be recompiled. Could you include that workaround to CrossOver?
Do you have any recommendations regarding running Office 2010 with videos in Powerpoint? Where can I report a bug? What else can I do to debug the problem?
