Steam DirectX install

Sup guys,

I am testing my entire Steam library of games with Crossover 13 and ranking them accordingly here on Codeweavers. I have a new question though:

When downloading and installing games via Steam, Steam will download and install necessary software, such as DirectX. Every time I launch a game, Steam tries to install DirectX again, even though it's all there. Is there any way to stop this?

Thanks again,
Alex

Heya,

Take a look at this thread:
Steam having trouble with redistributables

My crossties, usually contain the registry keys that get created upon successful install attempts so you won't see the DirectX installer pop-up... I think some of them still don't have them though.

LE: Even if the keys have somewhat predictable paths in the registry, the actual values vary in a not so predictable manner so one has to read the install scripts for each Steam application in part and create the correct registry keys and values.

Cheers,
Silviu

Hello Silviu,

sorry for responding a bit late to your post. I moved into a new apartment about four hours away from my last "home" and life got a bit stressy. But now... I am back! *echo*

I just wanted to thank you for the info you gave me. I'll check out the link tonight.

Cheers,
Alex
