Crossover 13.0 under OpenSuse 13.1 not installing MS Office 10 due to missing MSXML 6.1 resource

I just did a fresh install of openSuse 13.1, and have tried installing both the .bin and rpm version of XO 13.1. I get through the .NET install, then get a Setup Errors message box saying that, "This installation of Office 2010 requires that MSXML version 6.10.1129.0 be installed on your computer. How can I install this, or do a workaround?
TIA

MSXML 6.0 SP1 is in the "runtime support components", and how to install is in the manual here. Of course, make sure it is in the same bottle.

Still, it should be installed automatically for as much as I know, I don't know why you need to do it manually.

Hi Glenn
I don't know if this will help at all but have you checked to see if you are missing any CX dependency’s for Opensuse as many do not install on there own. See my post here. http://www.codeweavers.com/support/forums/general/?t=27;mhl=156778#msg156778

Thanks for the help...I've gotten the problem solved. Happy Turkey day folks!

I'm installing Office2010 with XO13.01 on openSuse 13.1 as well, but I get these errors:

Missing 32bit liblcms2.so.2 library: Provides color profile information to Windows applications. This is particularly useful if you have color-calibrated your screen but some applications need it even if you have not done so.
Missing 32bit libxslt.so.1 library: This library lets Windows applications perform queries and transformations on XML files.
Missing 32bit libOSMesa.so.6 library: This is needed by some games and CAD-like applications to perform off-screen rendering.
Missing 32bit libgnutls.so library: This is needed by applications that perform encryption or check online certificates.

Problem is that these libraries are present, but of a different version. For example:```
dev-pc108:/home/jb/Downloads # locate libOSMesa
/usr/lib64/libOSMesa.so
/usr/lib64/libOSMesa.so.8
/usr/lib64/libOSMesa.so.8.0.0

My apologies if this is in the docs or in another threar, I must have missed that. If not, any help would be really appreciated.

oh yeah, and apologies for hijacking the thread, did not read the original title completely either :(

Hi Joris
OpenSuse uses different libraries from other distros so you need to create simlinks to the OpensSuse libraries this link show the one you need to make.

Actually... the problem is that those are the 64bit versions of the library. Can you install the 32bit version?

Hi Joris
This link works whether you are using 64bit or 32 bit as crossover is a 32bit progam it has all needed sims for OpenSuse 13.1. http://www.codeweavers.com/support/forums/general/?t=27;mhl=156778#msg156778
You need to create sim links to Osmesa in terminal enter ln -s /usr/lib/libOSMesa.so.8.0.0 /usr/lib/libOSMesa.so.6 and that's it. Oh and you due nead to make shore you have installed the Osmesa32bit version as well as any of the other missing libs if you are on a 64bit system.

Hello to everyone.

I'm trying to install Microsoft Office 2010 using crossover and have created the links mentioned above. Nevertheless, when the installer starts the Office installation I get the following error in the console. Please, help me with some advice or documentation to continue ahead. I'm using OpenSuse 13.1 (64 bits) with the latest version of crossover. Thank you in advance!

It looks like you are missing some library’s run /opt/cxoffice/bin/cxdiag in a terminal and see how many you are missing then use Yast to install them.

Thank you so much. I got this message, I've installed the LibHal 32 bit version, but the error persist ☹️

Hi Vladimar

Ya Libhal is not your issue. When you started the install did you select Office 2010 from the crossover supported apps or just try to install the MS Office exe. You should select the supported apps version.

Hello Gary. Yes, I've select the Office 2010 from the supported applications, and tried with 2 kind of bottles (Windows 7 and Windows XP). In WinXP I get the message "you need a newer version of Windows", while in Win7 I get the error explained above.

Hi Vladimar

Sorry but the error code you posted is beyond me. Hopefully J-P Simard is watching this thread, he probably can make sense of it.

Hello J-P Simard.

Please, could you help me or give an advice with my problem?

Thanks.

Wow, I'm not usually called out like that, but yeah I was watching. I can't say that what I have seen in the dump actually meant that much to me. I mean, I know a bit on what it means, but reasonning something usefull out of it is a bit out of my league too.

Still I got some ideas...

First question, is you version of office 32 or 64 bit? If your office is 64bit, I think it might generated the kind of dump you have posted. Trying to fit 64bit software in 32 registers will definitly crash things, and Crossover doesn't support 64bit softwares yet. If your office is 64bit, I'm afraid there is nothing we can do at this time. Even pure Wine with 64bit support won't run office 2010 64bit.

Second question, have you tried to install again? If so, did you delete the bottle before trying again? From my research, it seems that if the installation process fails, it tends to corrupt the botlle in a way that requires the bottle to be deleted. Any attempt to install in the existing bottle will fail. So try deleting the bottle, and try again, it might just magically work this time.

That's about the extent of my knowledge in such scenarios. I'm not a developper of Crossover, so I can't do much more. Anyway, there is no reason that I know of that you shouldn't be able to install 32bit office in Crossover. If this persist, and you are sure you have 32bit office, I stronly encourage you to file a support ticket. If you haven't bought Crossover yet, you can send an email to info@codeweavers.com.

Thank you so much.

I've tried all, but the problem persists. In the same way, I checked the version of Ms. Office and It's 32 bits.

I'll ask help through ticket.
