I have an unsupported application, Visual Cadd 4, which has been working flawlessly for years under CrossOver. After an update at some point in the past year, I went to use it and discovered that numbers are not rendering correctly in dialog boxes! For example, when I attempt to enter a numeral "2" in a drawing, the text box displays a "Q". I do see a "2" correctly inserted into the drawing area, so the application appears to be getting the correct key code. What on earth could be causing this? VC has worked since forever and this is a real drag...
<sigh...> Nevermind. I noticed that VCadd was installed in a Win98 bottle which, again, has been the case for ten years. On a hunch, I re-installed into a WinXP bottle and things are working properly again. This is the second time in the past year that an application has ceased working correctly in Win98 and was revived by reinstall into XP. Has there been a regression on Win98 to explain this?
