Mint 16 64-bit cant install libnss-mdns:i386
Hi guys,

On a clean install of Mint 16 Cinnamon, I can't install libnss-mdns 32-bit library. The 64-bit version is installed.

There's a dependency to install base-files:i386 which will uninstall base-files (64-bit version) along with bash and some other rather vital stuff.

Is there a fix for this is (I can't imagine its safe to ignore this dependency for Crossover).

No, it's not safe to ignore this for CrossOver if you want your applications to be able to access the internet.

From the wiki page:

64-bit Debian or Ubuntu : apt-get install lib32nss-mdns

on the same page

Note that on Debian or Ubuntu, if you do attempt to use libnss-mdns:i386, the package manager will warn you that it will replace all of the appropriate 64-bit libraries with the same 32-bit libraries.

So it's not libnss-mdns:i386 but lib32nss-mdns cuz that's how Debian rolls.

Hope this helps.
Thanks Silviu,

Figured I knew how to install libraries, didn't check the wiki on this particular one. Serves me right, heh?

I'll read first next time! :)

Thanks for your help.
