Creating Font fallback Cross-Reference for Core Fonts substitute

There are a good number of metrics compatible fonts for all the Microsoft ones that ship with most Linux distros.

It shouldn't be hard to create a fallback list of them, and use them instead of the core fonts package. This would eliminate a major restricted component of Crossover/Wine. Crossover adds the ability to request to install at least one metric compatible substitute for each font from the package manager, although the upstream Wine package could add them to their dependency list.

I propose that a list be made for crossover. I also propose that for added benefit for the Linux community a the list be converted to common meta-package packaging types and submitted to each distro as "core-fonts-substitute" which would be an Open Source meta-package that provides substitutes for the MS Core Fonts package.

If the free fonts substitutions have close enough metrics to the MS ones, I think that this is a FANTASTIC idea!

Very good!

A package with this font substitutions would be great, too!
