Solution to "Registration Failed" when using CrossOver Linux

I had trouble getting CrossOver Linux to register on my laptop, but found a solution thanks to an old forum thread. This post is for anyone else who runs into similar trouble in the future.

I attempted to install CrossOver Linux on a second laptop, but it would not register. The login prompt which appears when you select "Help -> Unlock CrossOver" from the main menu would not accept my credentials. The error I received was, "Registration Failed". I could use the same credentials to log into the website.

The solution was to register CrossOver with root privileges

cd /opt/cxoffice/bin
sudo ./cxregister
