Dependency Hell When Trying to Install

Anyone else unable to install CX Linux because of errors like this?

 crossover:i386 depends on libxi6.
 crossover:i386 depends on libfreetype6.
 crossover:i386 depends on libpng12-0 | libpng16-16.
 crossover:i386 depends on libnss-mdns | lib32nss-mdns:amd64; however:
  Package lib32nss-mdns is not installed.
 crossover:i386 depends on libcups2.
 crossover:i386 depends on liblcms2-2.
 crossover:i386 depends on libglu1-mesa.
 crossover:i386 depends on libxcursor1.
 crossover:i386 depends on libxrandr2.

dpkg: error processing package crossover:i386 (--install):
 dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Errors were encountered while processing:
 crossover:i386

And why does it appear that the 32 bit version is being installed rather than the 64 bit version?

I'm on Ubuntu 22.04 and I'm trying to install CX 19.02.

Thanks!
Bryan

Hi there,

It'd be helpful to know what OS version you're running and what CrossOver version you're trying to install.

Best,
Meredith

I updated my original post with OS and CX versions.

Bryan

Hi again,

Generally speaking, a given CrossOver will not be compatible with OS versions released after it. Occasionally, we'll get lucky and not need to do custom development for new distros, but most of the time we do need end up needing to do work to ensure compatibility. The current CrossOver version (21.2) should work just fine with ubuntu 22.04.

Best,
Meredith
