Hi I am currently trying to install a pc game known as Civilization 4 and when i go to insert disk 2 i get an error prompt when it tells me to insert disk 2. i get a pop up window that says:
"Setup could not find a file on the specified path or disk
Please check that the proper disk is inserted or specify a new path."
It prmpts me for drive D:/ , I go to press ok and it just loopsd back to that error message. Anybody have problems with this. I've seen some documentation on this on the web but i couldn't get anything to work. I even tryed to copy the data.cab file to a folder on my hard drive and load the what would be the disk 2 and it didn't seem to work either. I need to figure out if there are any wine .dlls i have to load or is it shell debugging can anybody help. if not i'll have to create a windows partition just to play some of the other games i want to play. And i am fed up with windows 10 it is so wrong of an os disabling alot of good features in windows 7 and xp that made gaming on windows good back then but for the most part linux crossover is the way to go cause windows 10 disabled alot of functionality.
Just an idea... I suppose Crossover uses a specific folder with a disk mounted on it as optical disk. Have you tried to unmount disk 1 on Linux, then inserting and mounting disk 2 on the same folder? Good luck!
I managed to install Civ4 Beyond the Sword, now I'm having a problem with the game locking me out. I'll give an example: In order for me to install the game I had to copy all the Installation disk folders onto folders on my desktop in order to install Civ. but i came up with another problem. When I loaded up Civ4bts and I selected a game to play or load a game it would freeze at load. I never had that problem about a year ago on crossover 20.0. I managed to get several games to work under crossover 20.0. This is the debugging output errors for my crashed game Civ4bts.
Follow the instructions in the first link do winetricks install the wine packages into the bottle.
On the second link in winecfg set msxml3 in the bottle to native NOT native, builtin or you will get the crash. Set native msxml3r to native as well. NOT native, builtin. Also in winecfg from those links add msvcr71, msxml3, msxml3r.dll, mscoree.dll, streamci.dll, ddrawex.dll to your dll libraries in winecfg in the bottle.

CrossOver Forums: the place to discuss running Windows applications on Mac and Linux
We're rebels. We're misfits. But mostly, we're software liberators. And we're very, very good at what we do. We have to be. Lots of developers work with open source, but only a tiny fraction of those are good enough to get software that was designed for one platform to work on another one. We invented CrossOver software - a unique approach to cross-platform compatibility that does not require dual-boot or another OS license. We launched PortJump to help app and game developers broaden their market beyond Windows® users. And we launched ExecMode to help organizations solve really ugly technical challenges.
