Directx 11 on mac crossover?

Wine 3.0 now supports directx 10 and 11. What about crossover?

CrossOver also supports Direct3D 10 and 11, although at this point the Direct3D support in CrossOver 17 is a few months behind the support in Wine 3.0. The issue on MacOS in particular though is that the Wine/CrossOver Direct3D 10/11 support requires a modern OpenGL implementation, while Apple hasn't done any significant development of their OpenGL implementation for a couple of years now, having seemingly abandoned the OpenGL API in an effort to promote their proprietary Metal API.

Ideological considerations of proprietary APIs aside, the Metal API is only available to 64-bit applications, while Windows applications are still overwhelmingly 32-bit. We're looking into supporting Metal as a back-end for our Direct3D implementation, but it's not clear if/when/how that will result in Direct3D 10/11 support in CrossOver on MacOS. Even if it does, that support will likely be limited to 64-bit applications for the reason mentioned above. Ideally MacOS would support modern OpenGL like every other major operating system, but chances of that happening seem exceedingly slim.

The bottom line is that Direct3D 10 and 11 support on MacOS will likely be fairly limited for a good while.
