Skyrim SE can already be played in CX20.0.4 using DXVK it just won’t have any fixes that are built into CX21 WineD3D Vulkan backend.

Nightly builds can be broken randomly, bug reports are not accepted for them.

I don’t believe it’s a good idea for a normal customer to have access to pre alpha software (even if it seems stable), this would end up causing more headaches for support. Nightly builds could have bugs that brick all bottles.

The other part that’s usually not noticed is night builds can’t auto update, so you need to manually check for a new nightly build yourself.

No support of course for night builds, but some easy opt in with “public beta” checkbox in preferences would be a nice addition.
Like in Steam for example. This is nothing unusual and it’s widely used by many apps lately.
And I rarely had problems with CrossOver night builds. Actually it’s getting better night by night 😀

When you contact support but get the following reply about a bug, does it really make a difference?

Hello,

Thank you for your interest in crossover and taking the time to reach out to us.
Currently we inundated with requests from potential users to get their specific windows app to work in crossover. At this time we lack the capacity to fully investigate/troubleshoot your inquiry.
There are some other proactive avenues you can look into.

1. View our compatibility database to see if your app has been tested in the latest version of crossover. https://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility

2. Reach out to other users via the forums : https://www.codeweavers.com/support/forums/general/?;t=27

3. Check out our tutorial on tips for possibly getting your app to run.
https://www.codeweavers.com/support/wiki/mac/mactutorial/unsupported_deps

For the third option, please note: if the preliminary suggestions outlined in the link do not work, this implies the need for development. With this we don’t have the development bandwidth to divert to address issues with this particular application.

Regards
Codeweavers Support

Hi folks,

Access to the nightly builds will remain a perk available only to our BetterTesters. Anyone who would like to try their luck with the nightly builds is welcome to join the BetterTester program if they are willing to do the testing we ask of them :)

Best,
Meredith
