ATMEL Studio 6 and 7

Atmel Studio7 doesn't install on Win7 bottle
Atmel Studio6 install but doesn't run.
Both are complaining about failing to install the Atmel USB driver.

Not surprising, Crossover/Wine is designed to run Windows software, not hardware. USB support is very minimal for that very reason. Some people have had luck with USB devices, but not even once myself. Besides, I would be very hesitant to program hardware through USB + Wine, unless that hardware was particularly resilient.

I don't think this is very useful if the software won't even install properly, but the only link I have on hand is this:

thank you Simar.

I understand the dongle problem and I don't need it as I use JLink, not the Atmel ICE. I just reported the error I saw.
Later I did try to install Studio6 in WinXP bottle. It gives the same usb driver error but finishes the install and runs.
However Studio6 only support SAM3 and 4 not SAMD21(m0). And it shows problems with the asf.
And thank you for the link.
As a side note I am running Studio7 with Win10pro and parallels but it is slow. My hope was that it would be faster
in the Bottle.

Yup, it would definitely be faster in a bottle. Virtual machines eat system resources ravenously.

That being said, if you don't need the dongle. Maybe a debug report might show something.

A basic log sometimes reveals missing libraries and such. As for the result of the log, either post it at pastebin (with a link here), or at the very least between code brackets so it doesn't make your posting extra long.

Please Note: This Forum is for non-application specific questions relating to installation/configuration of CrossOver. All application-specific posts to this Forum will be moved to their appropriate Compatibility Center Forum.
