Opening an installer.exe that contains only compressed files? i.e. they used an exe
installer, rather than a zip archive, to compress some document files. no apps
contained in said installer.exe. can crossover expand or run this, and if so, how?
I read the other messages, but didn't see an answer to this.
I don't think Crossover itself is going to be your answer for this - it will just try to install from your installer.exe, and fining no actual installing files, will fail. You could try installing windows-specific compression/extraction programs in Crossover and using those, but I'd check to see if any native linux or mac apps can be used for extracting the documents from the .exe.
O.K., thanks for your reply, Jack. These installer.exe files are the windows analog to what we used to
call "self-extracting archives" as produced by stuffit, an old Mac app. so perhaps if I install winzip,
assuming it's supported, then maybe winzip can extract these compressed exe archives.
