Hi, I have a game that only runs on windows. I have an iso as well as an exe file I believe. There are other files as well. They are all stored on an external hard drive, as I do not have enough space to hold them on my mac. I was wondering if there is any way to run this game through crossover?
i think the question is a little difficult to answer with the amount of informations you gave.
Regardless the situation that the game maybe needs the CD/ISO due to copy protection (then Crossover can not help you here) - i‘ll try to get on your question more generally.
It is possible to execute Applications within macOs on an external drive/storage? Yes.
MacOS applications are some sort of self container and can be moved but - applications may store data in specific folders on your mac.
Due to the nature of macos being some sort of unix you can use so called symlinks. That means:
You can move the specific folders to another position and on the original place you can create a symlink pointing to the new location of the folder.
I did that several times myself - generally it‘s working.
But - regarding your question - there may be much more questions like that. Maybe there are specific examples to do things like that somewhere. Would you like to tell which game you want to play?
Bye
Björn
