Auto-Quit

Is there any way to get CrossOver to automatically quit when no applications are open? I'd like to be able to set it up for a friend so that her Windows applications like Office 2003 launch, but that CrossOver automatically closes when there are no more applications running.

That's a Mac OS X "issue" and is the normal behaviour for Mac OS X. Is there a reason this is a problem?

When using X11, as an example, it has an auto-quit option. Given that she won't need CrossOver running when she's not using any Windows applications, is there any reason that it shouldn't be an option to quit automatically?

Where is the auto-quit option on the X11 shipped with Mac OS X? For me, it behaves the same way. Even if X11 had an auto-quit I don't think that's normal for a Mac OS X app, but then that's me.

If its really that important you can probably script something or open a ticket.

Open terminal and type "defaults write org.x.X11 wm_auto_quit -bool true". It'll automatically quit about four seconds after the last application needs it. I believe Crossover uses it's own version of quartz-wm, so I don't see see why it shouldn't be possible.

Sounds like an applescript to me. You can find one easily enough if you search like here:

I haven't tried it so I have no idea if it works, if you don't trust it, I'm sure you can write it.

Or you can open a ticket and ask for it to be a feature. I'm not sure they track feature requests in the forum 😊

ETA: I'm not sure its a bad idea for a feature either for some sort of toggle. People coming from Windows would expect the app to close.

Please Note: This Forum is for non-application specific questions relating to installation/configuration of CrossOver. All application-specific posts to this Forum will be moved to their appropriate Compatibility Center Forum.
