Symbols not showing

I am running Bridge Base Software to play bridge on my PC. Have installed a trial version of CX for Mac and BBO seems to be running nicely. But the cardsymbols (clubs, diamonds, hearts and spades) are not showing correctly. They are just boxes and not understandable so I can not see what I or others are bidding. Is there a way around this, then I will buy the software :)

It might need the file cards.dll from a Windows installation. You can copy the file c:\windows\system32\cards.dll to your CrossOver bottle and do a dll override.

This ticket here explains it in more detail.

Thanks, but no success. Just to specify:

CX version: 7.0

Downloaded software:

Okay. You need to add symbol.ttf to your font directory. I think that should work.

Great. Thanks. Now it is running smoothly.

But then I opened a text document, written on a pc, with the card symbols. When Symbol.ttf was active the cards did not show up there. I now have to activate Symbol.ttf when I want to run CX and deactivate when not.

Now i discovered that if I left Symbol.ttf deactivated in Fontbook both applications run as they should 😊
