I'm very new at gaming and Macintosh, so I downloaded a test copy of Crossover. So far so good, Crossover installs the windows.exe and the whole program in a new bottle. But this original copy of STALKER uses CD-copy protection and asks for the CD in the drive when starting. In windows, playing STALKER where out of problems and it worked out of the box. But within the Crossover application it doesn't find the original DVD in the Macs drive, maybe no access to that.
Had the same problem with Tomb Raider (10th Anniversairy, collectors edition, 70€).
DRM blocks recognition of original DVDs in Emulation software. This is done on purpose.
Companies are so concerned that anyone might steal their work, that they dont give a **** about honest gamers paying huge amounts of money for their software.
Besides Steam (and no, imported games requiring DVDs do not work), there is no legal way to play your games in Crossover/Wine.
Your only option is to install Windows as a VM (May or may not work) or Bootcamp.
Sorry for your time and money wasted.
