Excel 2010 file open speed for large file way too slow to be usable

CrossOver 14.1.4 + Office 2010 professional SP2.
I have a largish 200Mbyte xlsx file - that is mainly data - to analyse using pivot tables.
Native excel 2011 for Mac has a very slow "file open" speed and then once open is very slow to process the data.
Fusion excel 2010 is much faster both in opening and processing (mainly due to using multiple processor cores unlike excel 2011 for MAC) but I was hoping to remove the overhead of running Fusion hence trying out Crossover.
Crossover Office 2010 is painfully slow to load the file - like 1% per second - really really slow in opening this file. Once open it runs at about the same speed as excel 2011 for MAC (as expected) but the file open speed is too painful to use this option.

Is this file open speed - or lack of speed - expected?

Can it be fixed?

Well, you are trying to load a huge file. What did you expect?

Have you tried the same file on a Windows machine with Excel 2010? Was it faster?

Too often people use spreadsheets as database tables and it's simply not what programs like these were intended for.

Just did a google search on the subject:

(search terms "excel 2010 large files slow")

Is it a file you could share with us?

We would love to at least take a look but in order to do real work, we need a sample of what's causing the problem.

If you can share, you should email our Support Team, ninjas@codeweavers.com.
