what could we do to get that signal into the container with weather display

USB (and other) devices are generally not supported by CrossOver. We do not implement a Windows kernel, and OSX has control over the hardware, so you cannot load Windows device drivers inside CrossOver. You need OSX drivers to talk to the device.

USB to serial devices are a special case that may work in some circumstances though. If OSX recognizes the device and creates a serial device node in /dev/, you can symlink that device node to ~/Library/Application Support/CrossOver/Bottles/<bottle name>/dosdevices/COM1: and tell the Windows application to talk to COM1. That will fail though if the windows application searches the USB device namespace and expects to find a specific USB device there.

Please Note: This Forum is for non-application specific questions relating to installation/configuration of CrossOver. All application-specific posts to this Forum will be moved to their appropriate Compatibility Center Forum.
