I was told crossover works well with Rosetta 2 but I was wondering will there be native support? would that provide better performance and battery life?

I was told crossover works well with Rosetta 2 but I was wondering will there be native support? would that provide better performance and battery life?
Native support is impossible without some level of emulation. Without Rosetta we would have to use Qemu or some other open source emulator for x86 compatibility. Rosetta 2 has the advantage of having some hardware in the M1 to help improve the emulation speed. Qemu would not so there would be a performance hit. In the past we have experimented with this to run x86 code on Arm based Chromebooks, but it was painfully slow.
If there were more Windows Arm applications, in theory we could release an Arm build of CrossOver to run them on the M1. Then there wouldn't be a performance hit for those. Not enough of these exist (that are not locked into the MS DRM Store).
