I have an application that has installed OK, but when I start it in CrossOver I get an error dialogue box titled Lauch4j
with the message "This application requires a Java Runtime Environment 1.5.0"
I have confirmed that the app runs fine on a Windows 7 PC.
What do I need to do?
The reason why your windows 7 pc runs that software, is because some version of java is already installed. By the way, if you have java, you better keep it updated or disable its web browser plugin, as it has become a regular problem for security issues.
To solve your problem regarding your software, you must install java in the same bottle as the software you are trying to run. You can use the crosstie found here.. The java installer itself can be downloaded here. Each bottle is isoled from the next, so it is important that you install both your software the java in the same bottle.
That crosstie provides an older version of the runtime but downloading directly from Oracle or Filehippo should work. Just tested it with a windows version of Firefox on java.com and it seemed fine.
