Are WINE bottles created in CrossOver compatible with other WINE platforms (e.g. WineBottler)?

I'm new to WINE. I've purchased CrossOver for Mac.

If I create a bottle for Quicken with CrossOver, will it run under WineBottler?

Actually, Wine (winehq.com) is the base technology. It can work on its own, but the interface is less than friendly and it tends to be on the bleeding edge.

This is where Crossover come in. Crossover does integrate Wine in itself, but unlike many other projects, Codeweavers does contribute back to the Wine project. It has it's own variations on Wine, and generally offers a more stable experience than vanilla Wine. In other words, although Crossover does integrate Wine, it is its own technology and share very little else with other products.

As for other products, like PlayOnLinux/PlayOnMac, or WineBottler, such products use wine more directly by simply putting a nice GUI around it. In other words, they're a nice face on top of vanilla Wine, but little else. I'm not saying they don't work, as Wine does work, but you don't get the advantages of Crossover.

So in turn, it is possible that a botlle from Crossover would work under WineBottler, as the base technology is very similar, but I would doubt that it would work without some effort. You will probably have to fiddle around much to get things working. So I don't expect this to be an experiment which would yeild good results, and I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you. Of course, it all depends how much you like tinkering on weird little projects.

The level of tinkering would be a definite concern.

Thanks for your time.
