No reaction from Steam or AOE2 DE when trying to launch

Hi everyone,

I recently got AOE2DE and played it over crossover from my iMac with Catalina 10.15.7.
In the beginning I used the test version of crossover and everything worked really well for 14 days.

Then after the trial phase I paid for crossover and it still worked for like a week.

Now, suddenly when I try to start Steam (or the game directly) nothing happens.
All I get is a small window saying "Updating" or "Veryfying" steam. This has been normal and after the window disappears
steam appears...usually. Now just nothing happens. The top of my screen says that steam is open, for like a minute but no window of the app appears, and then it disappears and it is back to showing that crossover is opened.

That's it, no error message, no warning, but also no steam app, and no game opening either.

Has anyone encountered this recently, was there an update that messed everything up?
I couldn't find any posts that related to my questions. They all had errors or a black screen without the game loading (which I also had several times, but I could just close and restart and everything's fine again) or something of that sort. For me it's just no warning, no error, nothing indicating that something is not correct, except it won't start.

Any thoughts on that would be massively appreciated.

Thank you,

I have the exact same problem here, any fixes?

Go to Install on Crossover and click on steam to install, it will take you through the install wizard and update the steam again. The problem probably accord while trying to update steam or the game.

Lavarsin on AOE2. let me know if it worked for you!

ah nice seems to work thanks so much!
