Application Installation Troubleshooting

CrossOver Chrome OS is currently in the beta stage and our team is still working through problems with installing some applications. In the meantime, here are some tips if you encounter an installation failure.

If your program partially installed but has stopped progressing

  1. Make sure that there are no processes running in the background that require user input. Sometimes these processes have a wine icon, a strange icon, or no icon at all.
  2. Cancel the installation and try again.
  3. Restart your machine before attempting to install the program again. Some programs may leave behind installation processes that can interfere with subsequent installations. For more advanced users: use the terminal to kill any running wine or related .exe processes.

If your program is installed but not working

  1. Uninstall by clicking on the settings button in the upper right corner of the Manage Application page.
  2. Try installing the program a second time. This may sound silly, but a bad install is possible.

  • If these techniques don't work, your program may simply not be supported yet. CrossOver Chrome OS is still in Beta and many programs are not currently supported. We don't yet have a rating system for CrossOver Chrome OS, but feel free to let us know which programs you want to see supported please contact us.
