Hi,

I just finished installing Ether Saga Online and found two problems. I'm not sure if this is just with me or for all of you as well. First off, I can't run the game in full screen mode. When I try to, it will go full screen for a bit then go to windows mode and freeze. Second, once I start the game a pop-up appears saying the the program patcher.exe has encountered a serious problem and must close. When I click close the game still works though. These problems aren't really a big issue, its just that I'd like to find a solution if there is any.

these are both known bugs that we're looking at, sorry for any inconvenience. Your best bet, as you've seen, is to run Ether Saga in Windowed Mode for the time being, and to close and ignore the "patcher.exe" error message.

We've got a workaround for the known issue in Ether Saga whereby the WASD keys don't work while playing in windowed mode, but playing in fullscreen mode is fraught with problems and crashes.

You can make the following registry change to suppress the "patcher.exe" error message which is the primary cause of the launching difficulty in full-screen mode.

• go to CX Games' Run Command menu, select Ether Saga bottle, type "regedit" in the command field, click "run".

• navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\WineDbg

• create a new "DWORD" value. name it "ShowCrashDialog", set it to "0"

This doesn't fix the WASD issue in windowed mode, but it should do wonders to stabilize full-screen mode. You've always got the option to run full-screen mode inside an emulated virtual desktop if you don't want the game taking up your whole screen.

[Note that for new installs this shouldn't be necessary - the registry change has been added to the Crosstie installer file, and if your copy of CX Games is set to update automatically, this change will be reflected in the Ether Saga installer item in Crossover's Install Software menu.]
