CodeWeavers Partners with FINAL FANTASY XIV Dev Team

SAINT PAUL, Minn (Friday, June 28, 2019) — CodeWeavers, Inc. announced today that has partnered with FINAL FANTASY XIV* Dev Team to develop FINAL FANTASY XIV: Shadowbringers for macOS which will be available for pre-order on June 28, 2019 and available for purchase on July 2, 2019. FINAL FANTASY XIV: Shadowbringers for macOS will be 64-bit, support DirectX 11 graphics, fully support all the various windowing modes, and will duplicate the Windows version.

* : FINAL FANTASY XIV is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed and published by Square Enix.

“Our team has spent nearly 9 months working on the macOS version of FINAL FANTASY XIV. This title represents some of our very best work. This build of FINAL FANTASY XIV now gives macOS users all the features and functionality that Windows users enjoy, and the extensive development and testing done by both our team and FINAL FANTASY XIV Dev Team validates how great this title will be for Mac users around the world. When you partner on a project that has already won countless awards, you want the user experience to be exceptional. I think we captured that for Mac users.”

“On June 28th, 2019, we were able to launch the 64-bit version of FINAL FANTASY XIV: Shadowbringers for Mac as a result of our joint development with CodeWeavers, Inc. We believe that we have released a product that excels in functionality and performance, as we have received positive feedback from our players who have actually used this product. Nearly 6 years have passed since the launch of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn, and various features have been added through these 6 years of functional expansion. It goes without saying that compatibility with all of these functions would not have been possible without the technical ability of CodeWeavers, as well as the close communication that we have been carry out with them. The FINAL FANTASY XIV Dev Team is delighted to have had the opportunity to work with CodeWeavers for 64-bit support.”

James Ramey added, “The partnership with FINAL FANTASY XIV Dev Team is the one of the most prolific partnerships in our company’s history. It demonstrates the work our development teams have put into Wine and how well Wine runs AAA video game titles. While we’ve spent the last 9 months working on FINAL FANTASY XIV, we have spent the last 9 years making our technology especially great for macOS and Linux gamers around the world.”
