Exile works fairly well

I'm in the early stages of testing this application but so far it's working very well.

I'm on crossover games 7.1
created a win98 bottle, installed Exile and Quicktime 6.x (which was on the DVD of the game) and did a minimal (requires DVD) install.
I used the Ubisoft DVD (Myst Anniversary Edition).

With the exception of occasional mouse trails being left painted at the bottom of the screen until I move the camera I haven't noticed anything wrong.

Hi David,

I'm an advocate trying to get Myst V to run (ok, going to try this afternoon when I get off work) and I have another adventure game working, but I wondered if you could give me some info from your experience with Exile?

I want to look at running it in a window rather than full screen as I have been having issues when exiting with my rather complicated dual monitor setup in ubuntu, and generally would prefer to have it windowed. I see your screenshots have Exile running in a window - did you just change a CX setting for this?

I am a bit concerned that because Myst V uses a different engine and DirectX that it will be pretty slow but I have my fingers crossed.

Thanks btw for showing that another of the Myst series works!

quari,
Please look at the tips section of Exile to see what bottle I used and other details. To get it in windowed mode you start winecfg for the bottle (through crossover configuration dialog) and on the Graphics tab select emulate desktop. You may want to skip installing Directx as crossover has it's own implementation. Good luck.

BTW I also tried Myst and Riven from the same anniversary edition DVD package but neither worked. Looks like the more recent ones might have a better shot, so Myst V might work.

Thanks David,

I had a quick try last night and seem to be having trouble with the DVD I am installing from (Myst V came on DVD only). I did get the install menu up so I will play around a bit more, and I have got into the Winecfg and set it up to emulate desktop - that worked fine.

Cheers!

Louise

I just tested Exile on 7.2rc5 and the "mouse trails" I experience before are gone. Now the game works perfectly.
Still no luck with Riven or Myst.

Yup works great for me too.
