Crashes after intro on late 2008 MBP Unibody

I've downloaded CrossOver 9.0.1 Trial specifically to see whether this game would work - and despite the info that it should, here in app db, it crashes right after intro, with an error message like this.

I'm running OSX 10.6.4 on a late 2008 MBP Unibody (with GeForce 9600M GT), I've installed DirectX Runtime Modern from the programs CrossOver has there in 'Install Software' menu, and then the game.

Any ideas? I'd really like to have it working.
