Origin (Electronic Arts) fails to install on Mac

Problem 1:
QT 5.5.1 installer is skipped after pressing okay on the following error message:
"It's not possible to install from network location. Please copy the installer to a local drive"

Problem 2:
Installing Origin (Electronic Arts) fails with the following message:
"The installer has exited but Origin (Electronic Arts) does not seem to be installed. Continuing with the install may produce unpredictable results"
Try Again button produces the same message
Skip This Step finishes the installation in a way that there seems to be no obvious way at least to run Origin.

Any ideas?

Same problem here. For better googleability, the Qt 5.5.1 installer message literally says: "It is not possible to install from network location. Please copy the installer to a local drive."

macOS 10.13.1, CrossOver 16.2.5 (16.2.5.30228) (recipes updated a few minutes before posting this post), Origin installed as "Select Application" to install, and choosing "Origin (Electronic Arts)", and letting CrossOver do all the work

I had the same issue. Even took it a step further and installed again but this time downloaded the qt 5.5.1 installer file directly onto the computer locally.

After Origin failed, I went ahead and installed qt 5.5.1 from the "Run command..." (it fails if you try to install it through the Crossover Software Installation menu with the same error as before). There are a few errors throughout the installation, but it seems to work as long as you use "Run command...".

Afterwards, I tried reinstalling Origin (through the "install software into this bottle" option and select it as an "unlisted application") and it seemed to work. It goes through and asks if you want to reinstall, and I selected "Yes" and then there's an error "writing origin.exe" and I just "Ignored" and it finished out the installation. Right after the writing error, the origin login client pops up to sign-in to the client.

So right now it seems to be working for me. I'm downloading a game now. Will post further information to see if it actually works.

Which one of the installers did you use?

Did you download it directly into the bottle before you tried to install?

I figured out the answer to Qt but then ran into another problem with Origin:

I get the same error whether I used a ThinClient or downloaded the offline installer from (https://download.dm.origin.com/origin/live/OriginSetup.exe)

Please quit and restart the installation. You'll be up and running in no time.

BTW, to solve installing Qt I just copied the file:

e6623e9bcb0c3eeaedc5f4742ef0141e.qt-opensource-windows-x86-msvc2010-5.5.1.exe

(the name may be different, but look for the file starting with qt)

in the directory:

/Users/[USER]/Library/Application\ Support/CrossOver/installers

where [USER] is your user folder to the Downloads folder in the EA bottle:

/Users/[USER]/Library/Application\ Support/CrossOver/Bottles/Origin\ (Electronic\ Arts)/drive_c/users/crossover/Downloads
