I have not been able to find anything on this topic by searching, since "bonjour" appears in many messages in French...
I am reconsidering the posisbility of buying Crossover Games, but I would also like to be able to install other Windows programs. Notably, one of them needs the Bonjour service for synchronizing with my iPhone. Is this possible? Does a bottle include this service, or is it possible to install it in a bottle?
Thank you very much in advance.
Murat
EDIT: I have just seen that there is another forum dedicated to CrossOver Games. I am sorry for having posted in the wrong forum, but I can not move my topic, maybe the moderators could do it...
That's at least encouraging...1.1.28 wasn't all that long ago, best idea
would be to to download the demo version of crossover games (if you haven't
already) and give it a try. The demo version is the full version, just time
limited. You should try to install it into it's own bottle if you can.
Sometimes there's another possibility - what I call 'bottle swapping'.
You'll note on the above page I linked to, that there's some problem with
the installer part in wine. That behavior might be different in crossover
standard/pro and different again in crossover games. Often is the case I
need to use crossover (non games) to create a bottle, install the necessary
predependency software (if needed) and the program itself, and once it's
successfully installed, I archive that bottle to file, quit normal crossover,
start crossover-games, and restore that bottle into the crossover-games
environment - this trick often works in difficult cases.
Give it a go and let us know how you get on...like I say, wine 1.1.28 is
not too long ago but many things have changed since then..
And just to make it clear what Don's describing: he's talking about installing the Windows version of Apple's Bonjour software into a CrossOver bottle. Windows software running under CrossOver can not directly take advantage of the native Bonjour capabilities of Mac OS X, although that may be something for us to investigate in the future if there's significant demand for it.
Please Note: This Forum is for non-application specific questions relating to installation/configuration of CrossOver. All application-specific posts to this Forum will be moved to their appropriate Compatibility Center Forum.
