CrossOver Support - Community Forums

i was sent a game, with the following instructions:

"1.Un-rar files,Place Folder Where You want It To Be,Send Shortcut From Launcher.exe To
Desktop ,Have Fun"

it looks pretty much like an installed game was just compressed, and apparently it plays fine on windows, but how would i do this in crossover? i tried putting it in c:\program files and it wouldn't run... can i somehow convince crossover to recognise this?

You'd really need tell us which game title it is, to give anyone
a chance of discovering what else the game itself might need...ie;
many games obviously 'assume' they're going to be running on windows,
and 'expect' certain support programs/dlls to be there when sometimes
in Crossover/wine they are not...let me know...

Well, not knowing the game, it could just run.

Standard warnings... there could be a virus, the game could be an illegal copy, please proceed with your best interests in mind.

The answer, on an executable title that does not install but just simply runs...

Create a WinXP bottle, put the executable file in the bottle under WinXPbottlename/drive_c/Program Files

Then, use the 'Run Command/Run a Windows Command' function to launch the executable file from the bottle.
