Can't seem to install from CDs using Crossover Games

I've been having trouble trying to install some games and nothing seems to happen. I tell crossover to install from a CD, pick a bottle to install to, press the proceed button and nothing happens. The CD doesn't seem to spin up or anything. I've had this problem with Star Trek: Birth of the Federation and some others. Has anyone else had similar problems?

Hi,

Some of the time this is caused by the 'autorun' feature on the discs
(autorun.inf) -- the usual resolve is to actually mount the disc itself,
and then using the 'select an installer' function, navigate to the actual
installer .exe file on the disc (typically called 'setup.exe'), and then
proceed with the install.

Let us know if that works for you...(or not 8)

Cheers!

If the button reads "Proceed" instead of "Install", then you haven't given CrossOver all of the information it needs. It will be asking for the missing information in the Installation Notes section, and the titles of the sections will still read "Select ..." instead of "Will ...". Clicking Proceed will open up the section that needs input.

If the game is in the list in the "Select an application to install" section, then select it. Ideally, CrossOver would recognize the CD and auto-select it, but the CD recognition logic may not be aware of certain variants of the CD. (CDs might be different for different countries or languages, for example.)

For a game that's not on our list, like Star Trek: Birth of the Federation, select Other Application from the Unsupported Applications section.

Don't forget to visit the Compatibility Center page specific to the program you're trying for tips & tricks and reports from other users. For ST:BotF, that's here.

Please Note: This Forum is for non-application specific questions relating to installation/configuration of CrossOver. All application-specific posts to this Forum will be moved to their appropriate Compatibility Center Forum.
