Can't open MS office files using office 2010 and crossover trial

I am using the trial version of crossover and have successfully installed MS office 2010. However, files which I save I cannot reopen. Is this a limitation of the trial version? Or have I a problem of file permissions (I don't think this is the case, I have checked that I am the owner and that I have read/write permissions for the files and for the My Documents folder.)

The trial version is not limited other than that it will expire after a period of time ... other than that, it is exactly the same as a registered version.

What files are you having trouble opening? What error do you see? Are you on Mac or Linux? Which office application are you using (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)?

Using the linux version (ubuntu 11.10)
i successfully created a test word file and saved it in the default location. However either double clicking on it or right clicking and selecting "open with Microsoft Word" the crossover trial window opens and when I select the trial button nothing very obvious happens. Word does not visibly open. Other files saved previously using word running under windows on another machine will open ok.
