False positive virus warning with Sophos free ?

I get a virus warning from Sophos Free antivirus for Linux
on install of Crossover 21.0.0 over 20.0.4
I guess its a false positive but wanted to report it - Sophos has a history of false positives on Wine I believe.

Greets Dag !

I installed the latest upgrade to Crossover 21 yesterday and my (paid) Eset virus checker gave it the all clear. So yes, probably false positive.

I just came across this also, from WINE 6.0 release.

Hi there,

Yes, you're absolutely right that they're false positives. Please see these posts for more information (they're written for a Mac audience, but the same applies to Linux).

Whoa ! Thank for reply, that stills my worry 😊
Regards Dag !

PS: uhm hm what would be the folders to exclude on for example Linux Mint 19 ? (debian/ubuntubased os)
/opt/cxoffice something and an /home/.cxoffice something ? DS.

Even Virustotal is far out .. 😀
4 false positives on Crossover 21 main .deb

Could I have a hint as to what folders to exclude in an ubuntu style linux ? (Ex Mint ?)

Regards ..

Hi there,

On Linux, it depends on install method. The relevant folders will be ~/.cxoffice (regardless of install method) and either /opt/cxoffice or ~/cxoffice.

Best,
Meredith
